Plan for re-shooting certain shots and more filming

I am planning on maybe re-filming some sections of my music video to make the clips more fast paced to match along with the beat of the song. I need to think about how I'm going to keep the flow of the narrative going whilst decreasing the length of the shot. I am going to film the party scene and other various scenes to fill in the spaces in my first draft. I planned to shoot these after my other scenes as I did not need the actors to be in the same outfits and time was running out. I booked a camera and tripod a week in advance so that I knew I would have one as they were being booked out fast. I have booked them for over the weekend to get all of my filming done to leave plenty of time for editing and any shots that may need re-doing.


Saturday 7th of February
I am filming the party scene on Saturday night as I am having friends round to celebrate my 18th birthday so I thought it would be an ideal time to film as people would already be dressed up. I am also going to film the date scene whilst Kate and Jack are together.


During the day I will film the sections which don't involve any people and try out different techniques.


If any shots need re-doing I then have Sunday to make any changes.

These are some behind the scenes images taken when filming in the park. This demonstrates well the issue I had when filming because the sun was really low therefore there was flares of sun in certain directions. So I had to move when filming at some points to make sure the lighting was good.

Filming Diary - Friday 12th of December

Today I filmed the beginning scenes for my music video. I had planned to film the party scene also but the actors couldn't make it last minute so I had to reschedule that section and film the parts that I could.

The shots that I did manage to get did go quite well in some places but other my framing could have been better and also maybe smoother transitions between the shots.

Lighting was an issue in the close up shots as the position of the actor meant that her face was dark and shadowed at some moments, so I may re-film that at some point to make sure you can see her face and hair properly.

Filming Diary

Friday 5th of December

Today I filmed the majority of the park scene for my music video. As it was really cold we didn't want to stay too long and I didn't like having the equipment in a park incase it was stolen.

There was some difficulties as Jack (the actor) was struggling to mouth the words in time with the music so that it would work when I edit the footage. This was because he didn't fully know the words, so next time he need to learnt the words before hand.

At first I had a little play with the camera to get used to using it and also how to position the tripod correctly. I then practised framing and filmed a couple of test shots.

The shots which went well I thought was the close-ups of Kate (the actress) and also the shots of the two actors walking towards and away from each other.

Overall, I think the filming went well considering it was the first time we had all tried it.
